Azizi Life
On Azizi Life
By providing access to the wider global market, they serve as a bridge between local artisans and customers around the world. Azizi artisans receive a fair and dignified wage that goes toward medical insurance, school materials, nutritious food, and farm animals that multiply income for years to come – necessities that are often out of reach for rural families.
The nonprofit grew from the desire to bring economic, social, and spiritual growth to rural Rwandans and was inspired by the reconciling unity of artisan cooperatives after the genocide. Each ethically sourced, handcrafted good supports local businesses and services. All products are created using local, natural and renewable materials, the majority of which come from local plants that continue to grow and produce even after the fibers are harvested. A portion of Azizi Life sales go back into the non-profit and impact projects such as their adult literacy classes, through which more than 2,500 people have learned to read and write.
